STARTING THURSDAY, AUGUST 12 WE WILL REQUIRE PROOF OF COVID-19 VACCINATION TO OUR MERRIMON AVENUE LOCATION FOR ADULTS 18 YEARS AND OLDER
This was an extremely difficult decision for us to make, but we made it to protect our customers, employees, and their families.
To enter the building we will require one of the following:
A clear photo (on a phone or printed on paper) of the front and back of your Covid-19 vaccination card PLUS a valid photo ID (drivers license, passport, etc.) that matches the name on the vaccination card.
You can of course present your actual Covid-19 vaccination card, but please be careful not to lose your vaccination card.
Also, we will require guests to wear a mask inside the building except when you are seated at your table in the restaurant area or in your movie theater seat.
Here is our full statement and press release on why we made this decision…
As a local business who has been serving WNC’s residents for 26 years, we strongly believe it’s our greatest responsibility as a small business to protect our staff, customers and their families by offering a safe environment to the best of our ability.
Today Buncombe County officials announced the local Covid-19 cases have more than doubled in the past two weeks.
As of next Thursday, August 12th, all dine-in guests and moviegoers at our Merrimon Avenue location will be required to provide a legal, valid Covid-19 vaccination card at the door to enter.
Our vaccination card requirement is only for adults over the age of 18. Those younger than 18 are not required to show proof of vaccination as there is still not a vaccine for children under the age of 12.
Also, guests that are entering the building for restrooms, ordering food/beverage, or picking up food will be required to wear a face covering at both of our locations on Merrimon Avenue and Downtown Coxe Avenue.
This was a decision we hoped we wouldn’t have to make, but it was made solely on our obligation to make every effort to protect our amazing crew and their families as well as our fantastic customers. We do hope this decision might encourage some who haven’t been vaccinated to go ahead and do it. It’s only through much higher vaccination rates that our society (and small businesses struggling to survive) can get back to normal.
We are honored to have been a part of this magical community since 1995 and this decision is the best way we know how to keep the lights on, the pizzas cooking, and the movies playing.
Other local businesses are making this same extremely difficult decision, and we fully support them. We hope you do also.
If you have already purchased tickets for our upcoming Studio Ghibli films we are happy to send you a full refund if you cannot comply with our new policy. Email us [email protected]
Stay safe friends.
